Gabrielle Richardson, lyric coloratura soprano, is pursuing a D. M. A. in Vocal Performance under Dr. Maryann Kyle at The University of Southern Mississippi. A native of Natchez, she completed her M. M. degree at Southern Miss, and received a B. A. summa cum laude from Millsaps College. She has collaborated with artists such as mezzo-soprano Kirstin Chavez, Irish conductor Colman Pearce, pop producer Glen Ballard, German coaches Michael Sturm and Ellen Rissinger, and Filipino concert pianist Jovanni-Rey de Pedro; additionally, she has performed two seasons with the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany, where she placed second in the International Aria Competition.Past opera credits include Despina (Così fan tutte), First Spirit (Die Zauberflöte), Polly Peachum (The Beggar’s Opera), Isabel (The Pirates of Penzance), Suor Genoveffa (Suor Angelica), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Sylviane (Die lustige Witwe),la and Frasquita (Carmen), and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas). Past musical credits include Ms. Andrew (Mary Poppins), Marian (The Music Man), Grace (Annie), Anne (La Cage Aux Folles), Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Maria (West Side Story), and Parthy Ann Hawkes (Showboat). She will next be heard as Gildain the Mississippi Opera and Southern Miss productions of Rigoletto.
