Ibukun Babalola

Ibukun Babalola, soprano, is from Woodstock, Georgia and is a first-year Master of Music degree candidate studying with Dr. Maryann Kyle at the University of Southern Mississippi. She will debut with the Southern Opera and Musical Theatre Company as Yum-Yum in The Mikado this season.Ibukun recently graduated from The University of Alabama where she studied with Dr. Susan Williams and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance. Ibukun made her debut with The University of Alabama Opera Theatre in the scenes program Something Old, Something New, and highlights from her time with this company include performances as the Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, and The Lady Saphir in Patience, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Greta Fiorentino in Street Scene.Ibukun spent this past summer as Natchez Festival of Music young artist and as a teacher at Kids R Kids Learning Center of Historic Roswell, Georgia. She has spent previous summers as a young artist with Harrower Summer Opera Workshop in Atlanta and as a teacher at Elm Street Cultural Arts Center in her hometown.
