Jackson, MS—Heather Clancy will be joining the lineup for Mississippi Opera’s A Night at the Tonys on Monday, January 18, at 7:30 at Duling Hall. Praised for her “fresh” delivery and “sonorous” performance of Bizet’s much loved opera Carmen, American Mezzo-soprano Heather Clancy has earned critical acclaim around the globe. Ms. Clancy’s rich and radiant voice is the result of classical training with jazz and early American Broadway influence. Ms. Clancy’s repertoire embraces a wide range of characters including Ismene in the revival of Bob Telson’s Gospel at Colonus, Lola in Damn Yankees, Irene in Crazyfor You, Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic foils in H.M.S.Pinafore (Hebe) and the Mikado (Pitti-Sing), Kate in Madame Butterfly, Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata, Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutti, as well as Bizet’s title character Carmen, and the incomparable Jenny Diver from Kurt Weill’s Three PennyOpera for which Ms. Clancy received a Kennedy Center Irene Ryan nomination. 2016 will take Ms. Clancy on a journey from Mississippi to Uruguay and Brazil in the spring and a tour of Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal in the fall.
