A masterpiece of French Grand Opera, Roméo et Juliett, is based on the most beautiful, tragic love story of all time.

The two noble families of Verona, the Capulets & Montagues, are bitter enemies. Their ongoing conflict escalates when Roméo, a Montague, and Juliette, a Capulet, fall in love. The young lovers exchange secret vows, but within hours a fight has broken out between the two families. Seeking to avenge the death of his friend, Mercutio, Roméo challenges Tybalt, the nephew of Count Capulet, to a duel & kills him. Roméo is exiled by The Duke. Juliette plans with Frère Laurent to fake her death with a sleeping potion to avoid marrying Paris. Roméo, having not received the Frère’s message, secretly returns and thinking Juliette truly dead, kills himself before discovering the truth.
